Read his amazing story: “So I got into a coffee when I needed a part time job while studying. I got employed in a newly opened coffee shop in Swansea. Whilst there, I had a guy sit down with me and give me an introduction of the various complexities entailed in speciality coffee. It turned my world upside down. Not just because of coffee, but because it gave me a realisation that most things aren’t as black and white as they first seem. I’ve approached everything differently in my life since, with a more open mind that I’d ever have imagined myself to have.

My job's ok. I keep my months notice in my tote at all times.

No, I really, really love my ‘job’. I don't think I'd say that being a solitary barista is what I do now.

What I like most is being a part of something different and creative, helping an idea grow and become real. It's exhilarating and I couldn’t ask for a

better group of friends to be doing it with.

The industry itself has given me more opportunities than full time education or school ever had. It also gave me many more good friends and role models than both. Also trying to keep up to date with the terminology has just been an ongoing ball ache.

I’ve only recently joined Matt and Sophie’s Coffee/Vinyl venture @Hardlines and I want to go all the way with them. To work with friends doing something that makes you happy is all I could ever ask for so I don’t look much further ahead than the next customer I serve. But there will be some HardLines club nights coming soon as well as some tasty food and as ALWAYS some very, very tasty coffee.

All the local friendly and passionate people in the hospitality industry inspire me. But to name one would be my fellow friend, band member and OG mentor Paul Griff, who was the guy who sat down with me that day.”
